Full Circle

Funny how things slip away from you.

I started this with all intentions of a nice write up about a wonderful trip, and then 'stuff' got in the way and I just didn't do it.
Lo Siento (I'm sorry).
Down and Dirty:
I returned to ColoradoSprings and checked out of the storage unit in September '06, in time for a lazy ride over new territory and into Sipapu for the annuall rally. The weather was more uncooperative than in the past, and I was in and out of rain daily. Fortunately the scenery and new roads made up for it all. I traveled a little more west before heading south, winding up in Chama, NM at an RV park for the night. The weather broke just long enough for me to set up before the dizzle began again. Along with the usual camping gear I carry an umbrella, which made the short walk into town a piece of cake. Chama is charming, and I spent a happy hour in the one bar watching football, chatting with the postmaster, and drinking Laughing Lab beer, the local brew. That night the tent and my sleeping bag were my best friends, and the next morning I was glad to have practiced packing up in rain before having to do it for real. Only things that went in the bag wet were the fly and the groundcloth.
On to Sipapu, riding up into the belly of the clouds crossing into Tres Piedras and the breakfast diner. I love that place. Any quainter and Lucy Arnez would be serving food. Then on into Taos and down to Sipapu, shivering from the cold and smiling from the ride. In Taos I stopped at a laudramat and spent 4$ and an hour drying the tent, my riding gear, and some socks.
Same old campsite, and many of the same campers. Food was outstanding! Fire was Wonderful. I made just one ride, through Alamosa, on some dirt, and down to Ensenada (?), but spent the rest of the time tryinig to get dry and stay warm.
I came home through Las Vegas (NM) and Trujillo, down 287 into Fort Worth and back home.

I'm sorry this isn't much of a write up, but times are what they are.
